Yes, yes it is.
Actually I'm not car shopping for me, but for my brother.
Budget is $35k, maybe $1k of leeway ($36k) if the vehicle is worth it.
Criteria: 4 doors (or large coupe, truck), quick/fast, good looking, Un-Modified, Preferably new (but lightly used works), No Wagons (ugh)
Simple, right? Wrong.
List of things he has turned down:
Ford Focus ST
Ford Fiesta ST
Buick Regal GS
Subaru WRX STi
Ford Taurus
Things that he currently likes:
Ford F-150 Tremor
Lightly used Pontiac G8 GXPs, GTs
Mitsubishi Evo (still undecided)
Added:
Mercedes Benz CLA
Dodge Charger
He is currently driving a vehicle that belongs to the family and if he moves out of State for a job he will need his own car. This is a definite possibility in the next 2-3 years. You could say I'm trying to expedite this car-buying process so when the time comes he won't have to settle on a car that he hates and will need to live with for a while.
Thanks for your help, Oppo. Have the Rallying Rolls as a gift! :D

BMW 125i? If that's too small, CLA or maybe try to find a last year 328i?

Is this dude drifting a maybach ?

So just to confirm he is not in the market and won't be for 2-3 years?

Obvious choice is a G8 GT

Consider him currently in the market, browsing if you will. But this summer and on he will be heavily considering purchasing a vehicle (testing driving, asking about incentives, etc.).
Thanks!

Evo! :3
Aren't some used CTS-Vs down in that price range yet?

How about a Camry, Highlander or an Outback? :O
![]() 12/03/2013 at 11:46 |

Thanks!
We currently own a Mustang GT, it's too small for him. Any other muscle cars are probably no-go's. We love the Mustang too much. haha
The Charger is definitely something for him to consider. I tried to get him to like the 300, but for some reason he just can't.
He's quite picky.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 11:47 |

He used to own a CTS and the repair costs really upset him. An M5 would be crazy to fix if something went wrong.

First thing I thought of...
Dodge Charger R/T.
For $35k, one could get a plain R/T ($30,495), an R/T Plus ($32,495) or an R/T Road & Track package ($34,495).
There's also the R/T Max, but that starts at $36,995.
If that doesn't work, there's always the 2005 Maserati Quattroporte, which usually sells in the $25-28k range.

He digs the CLA, thanks for reminding me! The BMW 1s are too small.

Ok... Uhh... 4 door turbo fr-s

Beautiful. That's something I'd get myself, haha.

+15k on maintenance and gas for the duration of the car.

But seriously, Dodge Charger, Pontiac G8 GT.

Doesn't want a crossover/family SUV.
Dislike for the Camry, cause a little boring.
The Outback would be perfect for his needs, but he doesn't like wagons.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 11:51 |
|
Right?! He's a difficult one.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 11:51 |

Since he likes the F-150 how about a Explorer Sport. Looks badass Twin Turbo V6 is damn quick.
Since he likes the G8 he can pick up a "new" 2013 Genesis R-spec
These are some quick picks...if I think of anything further I'll drop you a line. :)
![]() 12/03/2013 at 11:52 |

The Challenger is much larger than the mustang, so he should fit fine.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 11:53 |
|
Thanks!
The Charger is definitely on the list to test drive.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 11:55 |

Thanks, these are great! I totally forgot out the Explorer, talk about a sleeper. And that Genesis. Mmm :D

Oh it's not his size/height, it's all the stuff he carries on a daily and seasonal basis. Golf clubs, moving boxes, people.

We owned a Lancer back in highschool and loved it. I personally don't know why he can't warm up to it.
The V's upkeep is definitely too much for him (insurance, repair costs).
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:00 |

I would hardly call the outback a wagon.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:01 |

Consider your business card in my hands. I'll definitely contact you if he's still being difficult, haha.

Honestly old Rolls are pretty damn dependable from what I've heard. Though the issue is when something eventually breaks.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:01 |

Gotcha, slightly used 5 sereis wagon might also work

427 swap?
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:03 |
|
It would but he doesn't like wagons.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:04 |

Subaru even calls it a wagon. I'm confused.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:04 |
|
Ah, nuts.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:04 |
|
No. They were just really well made. Also most of them were driven pretty softly and were taken care of by Royce dealerships.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:06 |
|
Get him to test drive one, his opinion will probably change.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:07 |
|
When a car is taller than me, it's not a wagon.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:08 |
|
No no, I mean when something breaks it would be cheaper to just make a 427 swap than to replace the rare components.
But I agree, an older RR is one of my dream drivers.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 12:08 |

Oh! Yeah I agree!

Oh I see, fair enough.

Cadillac CTS? CTS-V?
2005 - 2008 easily within his budget.

Thanks, the CTS is actually the family car he's using right now, haha. The CTS-V will be expensive to repair if anything goes wrong, he had trouble paying for some repairs on the CTS alone.

Nice! A new one is out of our price range, but I'll be one the prowl for a used one!
![]() 12/03/2013 at 14:09 |

I would look for a Chrysler 300c new or used they but used will have a lot more options!
![]() 12/03/2013 at 16:21 |

It's much larger... on the outside.
![]() 12/03/2013 at 16:23 |

Buy the best Jaguar XJ you can afford so you only need to spend a few grand on repairs.

If he's down for a manual, I'd get a Challenger, or try to swing a GXP. It sounds like he's into bigger comfier cars, so those two seem to fit well. There's also the Camaro and the Charger, and I would look at used S60 R-Designs and 135i's.
